My mother & sister (& aunts & cousins) just came back from France yesterday, and were lucky enough to catch a glimpse of Bastille day. When I asked my sister what it was like she replied, "The most disorganized parade I've ever seen....everyone in Paris in the streets so not much parading, but definitely a lot of celebration within the chain-smoking crowd... Fantastic."
I don't think the French believe in rehearsing but that enthusiasm is a fair substitute for choreography.
